The Mahalakshmi Temple located in Kolhapur is among the top 18 Maha Shakti Peethas listed in various Hindu scriptures. The temple is of special religious significance being one of the six places where it is believed that one can either obtain salvation from desires or have them fulfilled. It is believed that Mahalakshmi and Vishnu reside in this area.
It is kulswamini of many Indian homes. Ambabai is wife of God Balaji ( Venkateshshwar of Tirupati, Andrapradesh). Devotees visit Kolhapur to pray Goddess Ambabai (Mahalaxmi) for a peaceful & healthy life. It is considered that the darshan of Shri. Balaji of Tirumala is incomplete without visiting goddess Mahalaxmi of Kolhapur. Large number of devotees visit to temple daily. The special days are Friday and Tuesday. The main festival is 'Navaratri Dhasara' , 'Kirnostsav' (Sun ray festival) and 'Rathostav' (Cart festival).

Importance Of Mahalaxmi Yantra

A person who worships this yantra with faith and fervor attains wealth and happiness. It is believed that establishing the yantra at home is equivalent to establishing the idol of Goddess Lakshmi. Goddess Mahalaxmi residing in the yantra appears to be seated on a lotus and getting bathed by a pair of white elephants with golden pots. It bestows wealth, prosperity and good fortune on the worshipper.
It is believed that Goddess Mahalakshmi resides in this yantra. It is considered to the most powerful yantra of all, and hence known as Yantra Raj. As per the legends, once goddess Lakshmi left earth to go for Baikunth Dham. As soon as she left, earth started facing calamities and everyone got terrified. All the saints, including Vashishtha made various attempts to call back Lakshmi on earth. He established “Shri Mahalakshmi Yantra” on earth after worshipping it with proper rituals to protect the people on earth.
It should be established on some auspicious day like Diwali, Dhanteras, Ravipushya, Abhijeet Muhurat etc. The one who establishes attains the blessing of goddess Lakshmi in the form of prosperity and happiness. • First, purify your body and start with a clear and positive mind frame
• Face the yantra and Light the incense or an oil lamp
• Take the water with a leaf from any tree and sprinkle the water on yourself, followed by sprinkling the water on the Yantra. Wipe with a soft cloth
• Lay a fresh flower and a fresh fruit in front of the yantra
• Now concentrate on the tip of the Yantra. Now with all sincerity, ask the Goddesss for whatever you wish.
