Ganesha is recognized by his elephant head, symbolic of auspiciousness, strength and intellectual prowess. The largest and strongest animal of India, the elephant is gentle, affectionate and loyal; These are also the qualities of Ganesha.

Lord Ganesh A Symbol Of Knowledge

Ganesh festival is the most celebrated festival in India. Lord ganesh is regarded as one of the most important deities hence many people worship and adore him. Usually all important events are started with Ganesh Vandana. People draw “Swastik” as a symbol of ganesha and believe it to be good.

But what does lord Ganesha symbolizes? Why we worship him? It is necessary to know all these secrets. Whenever the pictures, idols of lord Ganesh are made, the artists incorporates various spiritual and life related facts and different ornaments are shown for the same purpose. When we think with a secular outlook, we understand that lord Ganesh symbolises a knowledge and yogic person. And Ganesh Festival is celebrated to memorise the great deeds performed by such personalities.

When we see the statue or picture of lord Ganesh, we come to know that except for the elephant head, the whole body is of a human being.

Head- it is said that elephant is wise and have good memory power. A person with the complete knowledge and almighty, soul and nature and a strong faith in god. Such person is shown in the form of a person with an elephant head. Elephant is also symbol of courage, confidence, success and responsibility of duties, attention and focus in all works.

Trunk- the trunk of elephant is useful to do all the tasks with ease, because it is strong. Similarly, a knowledgeable person has spiritual powers which help him to face the challenges and situations of life. he is not proud instead treats others with respect and love. Ears- large ears of elephant symbolize the attentiveness and understanding.

Eyes- symbolize seeing greatness, virtues, goodness in others.

Teeth- it shows vision, understanding, intelligence, skills, character with virtues.

Huge stomach – which symbolize the capacity to tolerate all evil things and difficult situations in life. axe iis shown in one hand which shows the killing of evils with knowledge and in other hand rope is shown which indicates the limits or restrictions of godly rules.

Modak – when a person becomes successful of gets his work completed, he is happy and distributes modak to all. Modak is shown in the hand of ganesh as a symbol of success and happiness.

When a person develops all the above qualities in self, then he becomes broad minded, peaceful powerful, blissful and problem solving capacity is developed. Thus Ganesh’s one hand is shown in a blessing position.

In today’s world, life has become stressful, hence it has become necessary for all of us to become like lord Ganesh to live a blissful life.

For developing and sustaining these values and virtues in life, we need internal power of soul. This can be achieved by reveiving power and knowledge from supreme almighty father who is ocean of peace, purity, knowledge, power and love.
