1) The happiness which comes from long practice, which leads to the end of suffering, which at first is like poison, but at last like nectar – this kind of happiness arises from the serenity of one’s own mind.
2) It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else’s life with perfection.
3) A gift is pure when it is given from the heart to the right person at the right time and at the right place, and when we expect nothing in return.
4) No one who does good work will ever come to a bad end, either here or in the world to come
5) Anyone who is steady in his determination for the advanced stage of spiritual realization can equally tolerate the onslaughts of distress and happiness is certainly a person eligible for liberation.
6) The peace of God is with them whose mind and soul are in harmony, who are free from desire and wrath, who know their own soul.
7) Hell has three hates: lust, anger and greed.
8) Set thy heart upon thy work, but never on its reward.
9) Perform all work carefully, guided by compassion.
10) Performing the duty prescribed by (one’s own) nature, one incurreth no sin.
11) Feelings of heat and cold, pleasure and pain, are caused by the contact of the senses with their objects. They come and they go, never lasting long. You must accept them.
12) I am the Atma abiding in the heart of all beings. I am also the beginning, the middle, and the end of all beings.
13) It is Nature that causes all movement.
14) It is I who remain seated in the heart of all creatures as the inner controller of all; and it is I who am the source of memory, knowledge and the ratiocinativefaculty. Again, I am the only object worth knowing through the Vedas; I alone am the origin of Vedānta and the knower of the Vedas too.
15) The wise unify their consciousness and abandon attachment to the fruits of action.
16) You have control over doing your respective duty, but no control or claim over the result. Fear of failure, from being emotionally attached to the fruit of work, is the greatest impediment to success because it robs efficiency by constantly disturbing the equanimity of mind.
17) Out of many thousands among men, one may endeavor for perfection, and of those who have achieved perfection, hardly one knows Me in truth.
18) Selfish action imprisons the world. Act selflessly, without any thought of personal profit.
19) A yogi is greater than the ascetic, greater than the empiricist and greater than the fruitive worker. Therefore, O Arjuna, in all circumstances, be a yogi.
20) For even if the greatest sinner worships me with all his soul, he must be considered righteous, because of his righteous will. And he shall soon become pure and reach everlasting peace. For this is my word of promise, that he who loves me shall not perish.
21) I am time, the destroyer of all; I have come to consume the world.
22) The cause of the distress of a living entity is forgetfulness of his relationship with God.
23) Lust, anger, and greed are the three doors to hell.
24) From anger, complete delusion arises, and from delusion bewilderment of memory. When memory is bewildered, intelligence is lost, and when intelligence is lost one falls down again into the material pool.
25) For man, mind is the cause of bondage and mind is the cause of liberation. Mind absorbed in sense objects is the cause of bondage, and mind detached from the sense objects is the cause of liberation.
26) There was never a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor any of these kings. Nor is there any future in which we shall cease to be.
27) Reshape yourself through the power of your will; never let yourself be degraded by self-will. The will is the only friend of the Self, and the will is the only enemy of the Self.
28) The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: It is lust only, Arjuna, which is born of contact with the material mode of passion and later transformed into wrath, and which is the all-devouring sinful enemy of this world. PURPORT
29) Our mistake is in taking this for ultimate reality, like the dreamer thinking that nothing is real except his dream.
30) A Self-realized person does not depend on anybody except God for anything.
31) Neither do I see the beginning nor the middle nor the end of Your Universal Form.
32) The one who sees inaction in action, and action in inaction, is a wise person.
33) I am the sweet fragrance in the earth. I am the heat in the fire, the life in all living beings, and the austerity in the ascetics.
34) There was never a time when I, you, or these kings did not exist; nor shall we ever cease to exist in the future.
35) Works do not bind Me, because I have no desire for the fruits of work.
36) Karma-yoga is a supreme secret indeed.
37) The wise should work without attachment, for the welfare of the society.
38) There is no one hateful or dear to Me. But, those who worship Me with devotion, they are with Me and I am also with them.
39) Those who long for success in their work here [on the earth] worship the demigods.
40) Whosoever desires to worship whatever deity with faith, I make their faith steady in that very deity.
41) The unsuccessful yogi is reborn, after attaining heaven and living there for many years, in the house of the pure and prosperous.
42) I am seated in the hearts of all beings.
43) The One who leaves the body, at the hour of death, remembering Me attains My abode. There is no doubt about this.
44) Those who have no faith in this knowledge follow the cycle of birth and death without attaining Me.
45) He who has no attachments can really Love others, for his love is pure and divine.
46) Among weapons I am the thunderbolt, among cows I am the wish fulfilling cow called Surabhi, among serpents I am Vasuki, I am the progenitor, the god of Love
47) Fill your mind with me, Love me, Serve me, Worship me always. Seeking me in your heart, you will at last be united with me.
48) Blessed is human birth, even the dwellers in heaven desire this birth, for true knowledge and pure Love may be attained only by a human being
49) But of all I could name, verily love is the highest. Love & devotion that make one forgetful of everything else, Love that unites the lover with me
50) The only way you can conquer me is through Love and there I am gladly conquered.
51) When he sees me in all and sees all in me, then I never leave him and he never leaves me. And he, who in this oneness of Love loves me in whatever he sees, wherever this man may live, in truth, he lives in me.
52) Do everything you have to do, but not with greed, not with ego, not with lust, not with envy but with Love, compassion, humility and devotion.
53) I regard as great even the smallest gift offered by my devotees in pure love, but even great offerings presented by non devotees do not please me.
